BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — None of this is what we're used to at all, and that's why so many people are making such a big deal about it. I trekked out in the ice today to get your thoughts about this freezing cold.
That's a quick way to describe the weather we're facing, especially since most of us aren't used to it.
"It's really cold," Danielle David said. "I wasn't expecting my car to have ice on it. I was thinking I could go drive to Raising Cane's, but didn't happen."
"Louisiana does need to be prepared for this type of weather. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, New Orleans and Baton Rouge will come to a screeching halt," Jeff Rainy said.
Despite the mess the ice causes down south, some people are use to it.
"Actually I love it. This is my favorite kind of weather," Rainy continued.
But others, not so much.
"I hate it because it makes everybody drive worse, obviously, and it's pretty dangerous. It scares me," Colton Allen said.
"Well you can't argue with mother nature so we don't have a choice., but I definitely won't be moving up north," Brittany Thibodaux said.
With the slippery roads, having to the scrape the ice off of cars, and closed interstates, Thibodaux said you just have to adapt.
"I think it's for safety reasons, so I'm fine with it. I'd rather re-route to a safer direction then have other cars slipping and sliding into me," Thibodaux said.
As our Chielf Meteorologist Jesse Gunkel promised though, this won't stick around. It's supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow.
