BATON ROUGE,LA(FOX44) — 19 homeowners got their front lawns fixed up Saturday.
Habitat for Humanity teamed up with the local rotary clubs, ExxonMobil and Louisiana master gardeners to landscape 19 homes in the Gardere and Scotlandville area.
The new plants helped add curb appeal to the neighborhoods. Habitat officials say it's a good way to foster pride in ones' community.
"I've been really really blessed with really nice people to come out and you know help me to do a nice flower bed," Ellen Scott, Habitat homeowner, said. "I encourage everyone to look into Habitat for Humanity. It can help you."
"It feels like i'm actually contributing," Allyson French, member of LSU's Rotary Club Rotaracts, said. "Part of being an LSU student is not just being in academics. It's also making a mark on the community, so this is a great way to do something very simple on Saturday. We are making a difference in this neighborhood."
Landscapers added small plants and trees to each lawn.
