Police seek assistance locating scammers in Baton Rouge area

Baton Rouge Police Detectives are actively searching for DUSTIN KENNETH GANT, 31, and FAYE COOPER SMITH, 29, no current address, for scamming a 58 year old victim that was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The suspects went to the victim’s home with the pretense of doing miscellaneous work approximately 4 months ago and apparently stole numerous checks.

The victim has suffered a loss in excess of 50,000.00 dollars.

It is believed that there are other victims in the surrounding Baton Rouge area.

Both suspects are wanted for Felony Theft, Forgery, and Monetary Instrument Abuse. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of these suspects or who believe that they have been scammed is urged to contact the Financial Crimes Division at 389-3871 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
