Texas Brine officials said that part of the containment levee around the sinkhole in Bayou Corne has sunk itself.

Crews discovered the change on the south side of the sinkhole when they arrived for work on Tuesday.

The sunken part of the containment levee is located on the side farthest away from Bayou Corne.

Officials said that 400-foot section of levee is sagging now and filled with water. Crews are using river sand to try and raise the levee back to its original height.

In the long term, Texas Brine is looking at rerouting that part of the levee.
