Landfall Two Years Ago

Over 1.5 million people were without power on this day 2 years ago.
Although Gustav was only a Category 1 by the time it made landfall near Cocodrie…34 parishes were declared a disaster area.
48 people from Louisiana lost their life due to the natural disaster.
5 of those were caused by fallen trees…which was the source for the vast majority of damage to our area. Here in Baton Rouge - 2 people died.
After it was said and done - countless in the city had to rebuild their homes.
Douglas Stafford was no different. A tree fell on the place he's called home for over 10 years.
It took him a year to rebuild. Stafford says he learned a lot from Gustav - and will make sure he's in a safe place for the next storm.
