The Rim Shop closes doors without warning, leaves consumers hanging
LAFAYETTE, LA — The Rim Shop, located at 108 Doucet Road, has unexpectedly shut down, leaving customers upset because the business did not notify them or refund lay-away money before closing.
One consumer said she visited both the old location on Johnston Street as well as the new location on Doucet Road before notifying BBB the business was no longer in operation.
Before closing, the business gained the attention of the Better Business Bureau of Acadiana due to a failure to address a pattern of complaints.
Since 2010, the company received 13 complaints alleging consumers ordering products, paying for them then not receiving the correct product, having the items arrive late or both.
The business failed to address this pattern of complaints when it was in operation.
Last week, the BBB confirmed the business was no longer operating by visiting the shop on Doucet Road. The windows were covered by newspaper and there were no employees on the site.
The Rim Shop had an “F” rating with the BBB, its lowest rating, until the business was marked as no longer in operation, at which time it no longer had a rating.
