Baton Rouge, LA (FOX44) — In Zachary the search is over for a new Superintendent. And it turns out administrators didn't have to look too far. After over twenty years in the education system Scott Devillier will now be taking the roll as superintendant of the Zachary School District.
Devillier was elected after an 8 to 1 vote at the school board meeting Thursday. "I'm real excited to take the lead,” says Devillier about his new position. He’s excited to head the best school system in the state that even has the ranking to prove it.
Scott Devillier is taking Warren Drake's spot as the Superintendent of a school district that's been around for less than a decade but is consistently ranked number one. Devillier says, "Being here for the last 9 years and working in the system I know where Zachary came from, you know from day one in 2003 when Zachary started this school system I was here”.
Devillier says he knows he has some big shoes to fill but has faith he can bring the district to a national level of excellence. “And I think the vision we have for this district, this model of excellence we have here in Zachary I will be able to take it to the next level”, said Devillier.
Even educators see the impression he has made and the impact he can make on the community. "We are thrilled to have him he is such a good person very involved in our school and the community", said Toni Leiva.
And with an 8 to one vote by the community school board, Devillier said he's thrilled with the support the community has given him. "I think the community has really rallied around this school district from day one and because we've been a part of that they are rallying around me”.
