Secret Service warns parents to teach kids about online safety
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — As school starts all across the state the Secret Service is warning you to be on alert.
Agent Lou Velez heads up the Baton Rouge division of the Secret Service. He says all of us are vulnerable online - especially children.
Agent Velez says as more kids spending time on the Internet doing homework, it's critical to watch them and have as many safeguards in place as possible.
“We're starting to see teens from 12 to 17 - they're on the Internet a lot more and 65 and older,” Valez explained. “Those two groups are now on the Internet but they're also the most vulnerable.”
Agent Velez says school starting is a good reminder to make sure you take precautions to stay safe online.
