BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — The Senate Committee on Health and Welfare narrowly approved a bill that allows for the expansion of Medicaid Tuesday night. The bill passed on to the Senate floor in a four to one vote.
The bill’s author decided to defer the bill last week in committee in order to get more information to lawmakers. An amendment was added as well to the bill that sets an end for the expansion program in three years, if legislators decide to opt out for the state.
Governor Bobby Jindal has already promised to veto any Medicaid expansion bills.
