Wednesday, April 24, 2013 - 2:00am

A new documentary regarding violence in New Orleans will be presented to law makers and the public in Baton Rouge during National Victims’ Rights Awareness Week. The free screening will be held at the Capitol Park Welcome Center on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m.

Shell Shocked uses testimonies from children and victim’s families who live under violent circumstances in what is being called the murder capital of the nation, New Orleans.

“There’s not any issue more important today, and I refuse to be aware of this problem that our urban youth face and sit back and do nothing," said John Richie, Writer/Director of Shell Shocked. "It’s an epidemic that is plaguing New Orleans’ youth that we don't really understand, and until we do, we cannot start to really fix it."

Screenings will also be held at over 15 schools across the New Orleans area during the month of April. It will also be shown on Saturday, May 16, during a conference with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
