Temporary computer glitch forces decline of SNAP EBT cards
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A computer glitch is cited as the cause for declined SNAP EBT card services, officials say.
“Retail snap transactions are impacted, but the company is working quickly to restore service,” Lindsey deBlieux, Department of Children and Family Services, explained. “This issue is temporary and not related to the federal government shutdown.”
Problems were reported nationwide early Saturday morning. Officials have not said how long it will take to get the problem corrected.
“Technical staff is addressing the issue and expect the system to be restored soon,” deBlieux said. “The issue stemmed from a routine check of the system."
SNAP benefits will maintain through the month of October, but the program could be impacted by the federal government shutdown beginning in November.
