Thibodaux police rescue 35 animals; arrest woman for animal, juvenile cruelty

Police received a tip on Friday, Dec. 6, regarding animal hording at a home in which a juvenile also lived on Oakley Street.

The house belonged to Lorencia Raffray, 45.

Authorities recovered 14 adult cats, 18 kittens, and 3 dogs from the home, which was infested with feces and urine.

The animals were brought to the Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter for treatment.

The juvenile was allowed to stay with family members until conditions of the home improved.

Raffray was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for Cruelty to Juveniles and 35 counts of Animal Cruelty. She was later released after posting a $500 bond.
