BATON ROUGE, La. — The National Hurricane Center named Tropical Storm Andrea in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday afternoon. The Hurricane Hunters flew into the cluster of thunderstorms and found a well-defined area of circulation.
Andrea is forecast to move into Florida by the end of this week. Flooding rains will be the main concern with this system. Flash Flood Watches extend from Tallahassee to Ft. Myers, Florida. Forecasters estimate 2-8 inches of rain will fall through most of the state.
This tropical storm will NOT directly affect Louisiana. Although, tides along the coast are expected to be 1-2 feet above normal Wednesday and Thursday.
