A man was sent to the hospital this morning after he caused a crash that sent his vehicle flying onto a parked vehicle.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 15. It happened on Essen Lane near Our Lady of the Lake Hospital.

Witnesses at the scene told NBC33 News that the driver of a red truck lost control of his vehicle and struck a car. The truck then continued across the road and crashed on an embankment. That made the truck go airborne, flip, and land on top of a truck that was parked outside of the nearby nursing school. They say the sound of the crash was so loud it sent everyone inside rushing outdoors.

The driver of the truck was transported with moderate injuries. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was reportedly uninjured.

The driver of the truck was issued a citation for Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
