Two juveniles died yesterday after the car they were riding in crashed and hit a tree. Both were seated in the back seat and were unrestrained.

The Louisiana State Police reports that the crash occurred at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 12. It happened on LA 44 in St. John the Baptist Parish.

Officials say the driver, Daris Scott, 37, of Laplace, lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. The car went off the road and hit a tree.

Scott and front seat passenger Angel Scott, 37, were properly restrained and suffered minor injuries. However, the two boys in the back seat, Darquell Scott, 10, and Daryell Johnson, 15, were not wearing seat belts. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
