A Thibodaux man died in a head-on crash yesterday in St. James Parish. Officials say he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Louisiana State Police reports that the crash occurred at roughly 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. It happened on LA 20.

Investigators say Tommy Thibodaux, 24, was driving his Ford Ranger in the northbound lane when he crossed the center line for unknown reasons. His vehicle collided head-on with a Silverado being driven by a 61-year-old man from Vacherie.

Thibodaux was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Silverado was properly restrained and was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Blood was taken from both men, however alcohol is not a suspected factor in this crash.
