Wilbur the 'trashcan' dog excites at adoption party
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A Baton Rouge dog found abandoned in a trash can now has a new home!
Dozens of pet lovers came out to the PetSmart on Siegen for Wilbur the dog's adoption party.
The pooch and his animal friends celebrated with cake and dog treats. SOS Rescue Baton Rouge helped save Wilbur after his owner left him for dead.
Our sister station NBC33 first brought you Wilbur's story back in September. Shortly after the story aired the Morales family decided they wanted to adopt the lovable dog. They say they are excited to give Wilbur new and happy home.
"We had seen the story that Chanel33 had aired about Wilbur," said Amy Morales, Wilbur's new owner. "We saw that really pathetic picture of him he was just hairless and crusty and just really sad looking. For some reason we just fell in love with his face and he just had such a sweet disposition in the picture there was just something about that news story and something about that picture that we just got really attached to."
Morales says wilbur is a huge star on Facebook. They say his fan page has over 250 followers from across the globe.
