Wild walk in New Orleans Warehouse District to fight crime
NEW ORLEANS, LA — Booze, racey costumes and boys in blue could all be found at Thursday's 8th District Crime Walk in the Warehouse District where being vigilant came with a side of "va-va-voom."
A slight Bourbon Street vibe could be felt in an area known for swanky loft apartments and art galleries, as neighbors and New Orleans Police made their way from the Cotton Mill condominiums to "the District", a popular Tchoupitoulas Street bar.
NOPD 8th District Commander Jeffrey Walls, mounted patrols and uniformed officers walked and mingled with neighbors, many of whom walked with drink in hand and with some donning skimpy police-themed costumes.
The district walks are carried out by the NOPD in an effort to create a friendly dialogue and trust between police officers and residents.
