Last Straw: Perrilloux Off LSU Football Team

By Chris Mycoskie

Ryan Perrilloux was fully reinstated to the LSU football team following the spring game.

That allowed him to go to Washington, D.C., with his teammates. When the Tigers were recognized as national champions at White House, Perrilloux shook hands with President Bush.

But after 61 days, Perrilloux is off the team again -- and this time for good.

LSU announced his dismissal in a press release Friday morning.

All LSU will say officially is that Perrilloux did not fulfill his obligation as a student-athlete, but several sources inside the program tell Fox News Baton Rouge that the last straw was a failed drug test.

Perrilloux played in 12 games last season, completing 68 percent of his passes, including eight for touchdowns. He also ran for two scores.

Perrilloux repeatedly broke team rules and was suspended several times, but after getting back on the team in March, it looked like he would be the starting quarterback this fall. Instead, the East St. John product will have to transfer if he wants to play again.
