Daniel Porter ran for 130 yards on 17 carries Saturday to lead Louisiana Tech to a 35-31 win against New Mexico State in Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Louisiana Tech (7-4, 5-2 Western Athletic Conference) claimed its first-ever victory in Las Cruces against the Aggies (3-8, 1-6 WAC) and tied the series between the conference foes at 4-4.

Phillip Livas delivered a 68-yard catch-and-run touchdown with four minutes remaining to regain Louisiana Tech's lead, 35-31, after NMSU's Chris Williams caught a 34-yard scoring pass from Chase Holbrook to go up 31-28 seven minutes before.

Williams' TD was the 32nd of his career and broke the previous NMSU record held by Lucious Davis.

A largely scoreless third quarter ended with an 8-yard TD catch by Marcus Anderson, allowing New Mexico State to pull within four points of Louisiana Tech at 28-24.

The teams traded blows through the first two quarters, and with two minutes left in the first half, Keith Brown blocked an NMSU punt by Kyle Hughes. Alex Anderson recovered the ball and stepped into the end zone for an 18-point advantage against the Aggies at 28-10.

NMSU narrowed the margin to 28-17 at halftime with a 12-yard pass to running back Ronald Opetaia, who dove for the TD.

Livas kept his team on top in the second quarter as he ran for a 14-yard touchdown to take a 14-7 lead three minutes after an 80-yard TD catch by Williams.

Ross Jenkins completed 132 yards passing for the Bulldogs.

Holbrook threw for a season-high 486 yards as he went 45-for-60 and moved to 22nd on the NCAA all-time career TD pass list.
