Baton Rouge Press Club gets visit from new Southern Athletic Director

The new Athletic Director of Southern University spoke out about the future of Jaguar Athletics this upcoming season.

William Broussard addressed the Baton Rouge Press Club today. He said now that restrictions have been lifted from Southern's football team and more scholarships are available, Head Coach Stump Mitchell is more prepared for the season ahead.

However, Broussard said academic support and academic achievement are among his top priorities. He vowed commitment to working for academic success.

"Resources are very important, so the more that we can have - in terms of providing not only for resources to enhancing academic support units, providing more tutors, more personnel when we need it, and more guidance from outside consultants – the better," said Broussard.

Broussard went on to say that his other priorities include fundraising, revenue-generating initiatives and compliance with NCAA rules.
