Eagles ready to fly away with 4th State Championship title since 2001
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — A State Championship title will be on the line when Parkview takes on Notre Dame tomorrow. The Eagles have certainly spread their wings this year, as they hold a 12 and 0 record.
"Knowing that you are in just such a big game and there are so many people watching and it is all on the line win or lose," Austin Suits, senior defensive back, said.
The halls at Parkview are lined with memorabilia and newspaper clippings from their rich and successful history.
“We got to get it done,” Hezekiah Randolph, senior running back, said. “Everyone looks at us as a winning program and it’s not the same Parkview if we don't get it done."
The 2012 team is trying to write a little history of their own. Saturday, they hope to cap off another perfect season.
“You certainly feel the pressure through out the week leading up to the game.”
It's an unselfish group of Eagles, one that has offensively been a running back by committee that has been quite effective racking up over 3700 yards on the ground.
"Everyone has to be able to handle the ball and it’s just what ever play is open,” Brennan Bozeman, senior quarterback, said.
"At the end of the season, if you make the state title game and win, on the ring it doesn't say how many carries or yards you have in the season, it says that you're a state champion," Randolph added.
And collectively, to get that ring, the group says they just have to play Parkview football.
"It’s not necessarily having the most talent on the filed but it’s about playing the hardest and having the toughest mindset on the field,” Bozeman noted.
Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8. If they win, this would be Parkview’s 4th State Championship since 2001.
