LSU basketball guard suspended indefinitely for violation of school policies
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The LSU basketball team will be without one of their top players for an unknown amount of time.
Today the school announced sophomore point guard Anthony Hickey has been suspended indefinitely for violating athletic department and university policies.
"We will cooperate fully with the Athletic Department and University on the matter," Coach Johnny Jones announced. "There is a responsibility that comes with playing college basketball. If a player doesn't take care of his responsibilities, then he loses the privilege of being able to play. We look forward to continuing to focus on our upcoming game Tuesday and our three-game road trip that follows."
Hickey was stellar in his freshman year averaging just under 9 points a game.
In a release by the university, Hickey was quoted saying "I will come out of this a much stronger individual. I pray to be back in my LSU uniform as soon as I can."
