Fowles Dunks Her Way Into History

By Chris Mycoskie

LSU's Sylvia Fowles became the sixth woman to dunk in a college basketball game Wednesday night against UL Lafayette.

Midway through the first half, the Cajuns' Bronson Rodgers lost the ball and Fowles recovered. Big Syl used the fast break opportunity to get her first slam dunk in college competition.

Fowles joined Georgeann Wells of West Virginia, Charlotte Smith of North Carolina, Houston’s Sancho Lyttle, Michelle Snow of Tennessee and the Lady Vols' Candace Parker in the women's college basketball dunk club.

Big Syl finished with 21 points to lead LSU as the Tigers went on to beat the Ragin' Cajuns, 72-37. LSU returns to action Sunday afternoon at Rutgers.
