Tigers in Throwbacks for Tulane Game

By Chris Mycoskie

LSU head baseball coach Paul Mainieri is hoping to bring the Fighting Tigers back to the glory days, when they won five national championships from 1991 through 2000.

But for one night, he's bringing his team back a lot further.

LSU's uniforms for Wednesday's game vs. Tulane are modeled after attire from the early 20th century. It’s part of the year-long celebration surrounding the closing of historic Alex Box Stadium.

The Tigers are trying to break a five-game losing skid, which includes a three-game series sweep at Tennesee last weekend.

Tulane, on the other hand, has won five straight by a combined score of 60 to 14.

This rivalry dates back to 1893. That adds a nice touch, but LSU just needs a win no matter who's on the other side.
