No time to sulk for Saints

Monday, November 26, 2012 - 10:49pm

As bad as Sunday’s loss to San Francisco may hurt, the New Orleans Saints must put it in the rear view. Yes, it was a golden opportunity to jump into playoff contention. Yes, it was a chance to beat one of the elite teams in the NFL. And yes, snapping a three game win streak in front of the home fans hurts. But a quick turnaround for the Black and Gold has them looking ahead as they will take on NFC South foe Atlanta on Thursday night.

“I’m stating the obvious that it was a tough loss. I’ll say that in one statement, but say in another that it’s no time to linger over a loss. We have a divisional opponent coming up in three days. Today for us is really a Wednesday/Tuesday. We have to get going, so we’ve already dug deep into Atlanta, put this one to bed early this morning and moved on,” Saints defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo Monday.

The Saints defense, ranked dead last in the league in total defense, will have the tough task of stopping a potent Falcon offense with a short amount of time to prepare.

Kickoff for Thursday’s game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. It will be televised on NFL Network.

The Saints (5-6) are one game out of the last wild-card spot in the NFC.
