Southern Jags take off with hopes to pull off underdog win
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — The Southern Jaguars are now just two days away from trying to make history and become the first ever 16-seed to beat a no. 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Today the team took off from the Baton Rouge Airport en route to Salt Lake City. It’s the programs 8th trip to the big dance. The Jags will be a huge underdog but they're looking to shock the world.
Senior guard Jameel Grace has been through it all in his four years on the bluff. During his freshman and sophomore years the team won just 10 games to go along with 50 losses.
“My first two years it was rough and to get to where we are right now it's the best feeling right now," he said.
Tipoff is scheduled for Thursday, March 21 at 3:10 p.m.
