Towson Topples Winless Lady Jags

Led by a game-high 17 points from senior guard Holly Mahan (Francis Lewis H.S./Queens, N.Y.), the Towson Tigers (4-2) rallied from a half-time deficit to advance to the championship game of the Comcast Lobo Shootout with a 57-50 victory over Southern University (0-5) at The Pit on Friday evening.

The Tigers, who won their eighth straight game played in the month of December, overcame a 30-24 deficit by outscoring the Jaguars by 33-20 in the second half.

Mahan, who recorded her fifth double-digit scoring effort of the season, made 7 of 14 shots from the floor and also had a season-high six steals and six rebounds. She scored 11 of her points in the first half.

Sophomore forward Kandace Davis (Laurel H.S./Hyattsville, Md.) scored 15 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds for her second "double double" of the season. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Shanae Baker-Brice (Theodore Roosevelt H.S./Washington, D.C.) contributed 11 points, including nine in the second half, and had four steals.

The Spartans were led by junior guard Deidra Jackson (Amite, La.), who scored 15 points while sophomore forward Ashley Augerson (Monroe, La.) added eight points off the bench.
