Thousands of people in New Roads skipped a day in New Orleans and stayed close to home for some Fat Tuesday fun.
The party kicked off with the 88th Annual Community Center Carnival Parade.
Organizers say it's the oldest parade outside of New Orleans.
The carnival parade was followed by the 67th Annual New Roads Lions club parade.
Over 60 floats and hundreds of entertainers snaked their way through the downtown area.
Officials estimate 100-thousand party-goers soaked up all the Mardi Gras mayhem.
