Jesse Gunkel Chief Meteorologist
Chief Meteorologist Jesse Gunkel joined the FOX44 Weather Team in 2007. He got his start as the morning meteorologist for FOX News Louisiana. After two years, he made his way to chief meteorologist for FOX44 News at 9. He's covered every major storm from Hurricane Gustav to Hurricane Isaac. He tracked Hurricane Ike near landfall in Texas, He's also covered major events such as the BP Oil Spill, the record snowfall of 2008, and the historic Mississippi River flooding of 2010. When not on-air, he can be found giving station tours and talking to students around the Capital Area.
Jesse joins us from Weather Central, Inc. He started as an intern. He was given the responsibility of creating the back page forecast for various newspapers around the country. That lead into a full time position, in which, he traveled across North America. He installed, trained, and supported customers in state of the art weather technology.
He is originally a cheesehead. He grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Atmospheric Sciences. He is a member of the National Weather Association.
